All In The Perspective.

It is interesting how to one person, something can look so great and yet, to another the very same things can be terrible.

I guess it is a little like that proverb, “The grass is always greener on the other side”.

Things are always different depending on who you are and where you are standing.

Take for example the 7 year old that said:

“It’s a movie about an old lady, and it’s a sad movie. She looks like maybe she gets sick or something, and it looks really boring. The name of the movie Amour is someone’s name. But it’s not her name, it’s someone she knows. Maybe the person who helps her when she is sick.”

The child was talking about the movie simply based on what they had seen of the poster-and the fact they were only 7 years old.

I found the statement funny and cute. However, there is a deeper truth here.  Should anyone, based on this opinion, not see the movie? Because it looks boring, looks like it is about an old, sick person (possibly named Amour!)??

No.

Because no one reading that would go on the advice of a 7 years old, in regards to an Oscar Nominated movie .

So, what do we learn from this? I think the moral of the story is that we need to make sure that those who give us their opinions, are speaking from the right side of the fence, and are not simply a 7 year old, making a comment about a movie poster.

And this applies to (much)  more than just  movies. It can work for anything-relationships, life, work, hobbies, and last, but not least-design (which could and does, for many, fall under work or hobbies).

Design what you want, how like, whenever you want  and always be sure that the advice you listen to comes from the right side of the fence.
